The first time you may want to stop and do some sightseeing with the familiar landmarks, but after that you can pretty much just blast through. The game is also pretty simple to pass through. Fighting other foes such as snakes and crabs early on doesn't seem to be Goku's style, because of his martial arts background, but doing this builds experience and he needs some major experience for later encounters. Controls, though seem to come together nicely allowing the player a chance at beating the usually stronger opponent. Walking is easier so you can backtrack and so you won't have to spend any more flying points. You can even fly with one press of a button, but flying is much less enjoyable because you're very limited in how far you can go. You have the basic punches and kicks with one button and Ki power with the other button allowing you to pull off moves like solar flare and Kamehameha. Actual fighting sequences against another opponent is fun- for a little while. I won't blow the whole game for those unfamiliar with the story.

After talking to everyone then the story begins with the Saiyan invader Raditz coming and kidnapping Gohan, from there the Namekian Piccolo comes to assist.and yadayada. You can complete some very menial tasks for a martial arts champion such as collect some revealing model magazines for good 'ol Master Roshi, and from this you gain some Senzu beans and some experience, possibly allowing you to level up. You start on an island at Kame House with Master Roshi, Bulma, Turtle, Krillin, and your son Gohan. The story begins with some backstory to the DBZ world and Goku's past to bring you somewhat up to speed. And the whole time you follow the DBZ storyline from the Raditz to Frieza Saga. Gameplay is basic with you, playing as Goku of course, completing some pretty lame quests, solving the occasional basic puzzles, and fighting enemies sometimes notable ones such as Vegeta and Nappa. The whole game watered down an often extremely action-packed TV show. You'll follow Goku through the Raditz Saga all the way through the end of the Frieza Saga to when Goku becomes a Super Saiyan, doing quests and gaining experience the whole way through.
